Dayingpan Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Central-north Yunnan (border with southernmost Sichuan). The Dayinpan Fm was named by Xie Zhenxi et al. in 1965. The reference section is in Xiaoheiqing-Puduhe area, in the Dongchuan Ore District, Yunnan Province. Lower formation-level stratigraphic unit of the Kunyang Gr in the Dongchuan area.
Synonym: (大营盘组)
Lithology and Thickness
Lower part of the formation is composed of black carbonaceous silty sericite slate, siliceous slate sandwiched with carbonaceous siltstone, but near the base it is of tuffaceous sandstone, lithic quartz sandstone, red ferruginous breccia and ferruginous slate and hematite layers or lenticules. Upper part consists of grey-black sericite slate with carbonaceous slate, but in the top, it is sandwiched with thin-bedded marl and quartz sandstone. Its thickness varies from 960 to 1216 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The base rests disconformably on the Qinglongshan Fm (Luzhijiang Fm)
Upper contact
The top is overlain conformably by the Xiaohekou Fm
Regional extent
Central-north Yunnan (border with southernmost Sichuan). The formation is mainly scattered in the Dongchuan area of Yunnan and the Huili area of Sichuan Province.
